New Trees on First Street

New Trees on First Street in front of Snohomish Bakery

If you're out and about in the downtown area today, you might notice a small change to the streetscape.  The replacement trees and shrubs have been installed in the planter strip at the bakery at First Street and Union Avenue.  The old trees had been removed in October without prior approval, but the owner then obtained all the necessary approvals after a visit from the City.

The new trees are katsura and Japanese snowbell, with heavenly bamboo shrubs at the base of each tree.  Root barrier was installed to keep the tree roots from damaging infrastructure as they mature.  The owner will be repairing cracked and heaved sidewalk panels in the spring.
